Kaizen: Unleash the Potential Within
KAIZEN: Unleash the Potential Within
What is kaizen? What is the kaizen method? How can kaizen help you achieve greater success in life? These questions and their answers have the power to transform your life!
Kaizen is the Japanese principle of consistent and gradual change. Directly translated kaizen means “continuous change for the better.” The principle of kaizen burst forth from a book written in 1986. In the book, Masaaki Imai revealed the secret behind the success of Toyota and other Japanese companies. The kaizen method has since become part of the corporate lexicon the world over. It is a principle of growth, success, productivity, ingenuity, improvement, responsibility, etc. And the more I study it, the more I believe the world needs to adopt it, or else.
In a corporate setting, kaizen requires that the entire company monitor its operations on a daily basis. In other words, the organization is assumed to be capable of improvement in all areas, and it is prone to failure without continual renewal.
In a health care setting kaizen requires that the entire body be monitored and cared for on a daily basis. The human body is capable of improvement in all areas, and is certainly prone to failure without continual maintenance and constant renewal.
Do you see the parallel? The human body, like a Fortune500 company, is incredibly complex, has many moving parts, requires constant attention, is always changing, and can increase or decrease in value based on how well it is managed and operated. In short, health and wealth are responsive or proportionate to the principle of kaizen, continuous change for the better.
For instance, a company that is resistant to change and supportive of the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality will not only experience a lack of growth, but inevitably experience a barrage of self defeating obstacles. As it is in the corporate world, so it is in the world of health care. A person that is resistant to change, ignorant of the need for continual renewal, supportive of the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality will not only experience a lack of growth, but inevitably disease and dysfunction. Again, do you see the parallel between business success and personal health care in relation to kaizen?
We are all CEO’s of our own body. As the CEO, how do you feel about your current corporate structure, its operating efficiency and its future forecast? As the CEO, do you know if your assets are appreciating or depreciating? As the CEO, are you excited and confident or uncertain and fearful of what the future holds?
The strongest and healthiest people/business entities in the world are using the kaizen method either consciously or unconsciously. They are focused and committed to continuous change for the better. When you are practicing kaizen on a daily basis; growth, success and sustainability are inevitable. When you are practicing kaizen on a regular basis; vitality, health and wellness are the side effects. Whether your goal is financial success or physiological success, kaizen is the key to unleashing your full potential.
